PARK CLOSURES – 2022-23 Controlled Hunting Program to affect three parks

As you plan your visits to Geauga Park District this fall and winter, please note the following park closures due to controlled hunting.

The Rookery will be closed from sunrise to a half hour after sunset November 19 and 20 due to youth gun hunting, as well as January 7, 8 and 9 due to muzzleloader hunting.

Observatory Park will be closed November 28 and 29 due to regular gun hunting.

And The West Woods will be closed December 2 and 3 due to regular gun hunting.

All these dates are also posted at www.geaugaparkdistrict.org under News & Updates, and rangers and/or signs will be posted at the park entrance these days as a reminder.

Controlled hunting has been used since the 2007-08 season to maintain healthy, balanced populations of plants and animals on Park District properties. Time has proven it a viable management tool and a proactive approach to the Park District’s mission. Learn more about the program at www.geaugaparkdistrict.org under Activities, then Hunting & Trapping.
