Over 20 breweries from around the country, state, and down the street will showcase their unique libations September 14 at the second annual Chardon BrewFest.
Sponsored by Chardon Tomorrow, the festival will be held from noon to 5:00 p.m. on the grounds of the ElTech Building located at 100 Seventh Avenue. The event will feature samples from 22 breweries in addition to food, live music, raffles and games.
With the growing wave of craft beers popping up through Northeast Ohio and beyond, BrewFest provides the perfect opportunity for beer aficionados and the casual beer drinker to enjoy samples while meeting brewers responsible for some of their favorite brews and discovering new ones.
Chardon Tomorrow, a group formed to promote the City, launched BrewFest in 2012 with the goal of attracting a crowd of at least 200, according to Steve Turpin, BrewFest project chairman. Instead, the festival exceeded the group’s wildest expectations with estimates closer to 1,000. With that in mind, festival organizers have planned to provide much more beer, an expanded food selection and a wider area for guests to roam.
Admission for Chardon BrewFest is $25 in advance and $35 the day of the event. Price includes 15 pours and commemorative tasting mugs. Designated drivers may attend the festival for $5 and receive free pop and water. Tickets may be purchased online.
In addition to tastings, guests can enjoy music from returning bands Paydirt, Sorta Blues, and Smack the Frog. They also may experience food offerings from some of Chardon’s best eateries including Beans Coffee Shop & Bistro, Bass Lake Taverne, Cleats, and Morgan’s Smokehouse on the Square.
Free parking will be available. Children are permitted, but must be attended by an adult at all times. Due to insurance liabilities, pets are not allowed.
All proceeds from the Chardon BrewFest support Chardon Tomorrow, a non-profit civic organization whose purpose is historic preservation and economic development of the Chardon community.
