Crossing Borders: Immigrant Narratives (Free!)
Saturday & Sunday, March 18th & 19th, 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., CSU Student Center Ballroom, 2121 Euclid Ave. SC 319 Cleveland.

A FREE staged reading featuring original poems, stories and essays by Cleveland writers and residents on the theme of immigration. Directed by Marc Moritz with dramatic readings by professional actors. Held as part of The Cleveland Humanities Festival in partnership with Cleveland State University and the Baker-Nord Center for the Humanities. Check out the press release.

Transition & Transformation: Writing For Self-Discovery (FREE)

Ready or not, we all go through numerous transitions in our lives — starting or ending a job, divorce, death of a loved one, an empty nest. Each transition brings with it an ending and possible feelings of loss, but also signifies a new beginning. This workshop will help participants discover how writing can clarify meaning, aid introspection, and increase our options for creativity during the journey of transition. No writing experience necessary!

March’s edition of “Between The Lines” features celebrated local authors and educators Toni K. Thayer & Terry Dubow, who will explore the imaginative leaps involved in writing across gender lines. Both writers will read from new and previously published work before discussing the joys and challenges of creating characters whose identities differ from their own. Stick around to ask questions of the authors and mingle.

Join Literary Cleveland for an open mic night at the Galleries at CSU. From 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., mix and mingle while enjoying food and drink. At 7:30 p.m., perform your piece or simply sit back and enjoy an evening of entertainment as open mic participants take the stage. ​Hosted by poet, performer and teacher Damien Ware. Open mic sign-up begins at 6:30 p.m.
