Pick-up Specialist Responsibilities
Summary: The Habitat for Humanity ReStore’s mission is to generate revenue through the sale of donated surplus building materials and household items to support LGHFH’s operating budget. Through its efforts, the ReStore facilitates recycling, minimizes landfill waste, provides low-cost home improvement items, and increases Habitat’s visibility in our community.
The Pick-up Specialist is responsible for picking up donations on the box truck and receiving donations in the warehouse. The Pick-up Specialist assists in properly screening donations both in the warehouse and on the truck. The Pick-up Specialist helps load customers also helps load customers purchases when the store is open. Specific responsibilities, although not inclusive are:
Donation Pick-up
- Accompany truck driver to pick-up donations.
- Screen donations for acceptability.
- Ensure donors get donation receipt.
- Set up trips in GPS.
- Assist in training new volunteers that go on the truck.
- Report any problems with donors and or volunteers to the ReStore Manager.
- Build and maintain a positive relationship with donors
- Be knowledgeable on information on Habitat such as home builds, etc.
Store Operations
- Assist in sales floor preparations.
- Load customer’s purchases.
- Help customers when store is open.
- Remove sold items from sales floor.
- Fill holes on sales floor.
- Build and maintain positive customer relations by providing excellent customer service.
- Assist in training new volunteers.
Warehouse Duties
- Screen drop off donations for acceptability.
- Thank donors and ensure they get a donation receipt if desired.
- Assist with keeping warehouse clean, organized and safe.
- Clean items for sales floor.
- Sanitize upholstered items.
- Assist in keeping outside of building clean.
- Be a positive influence to the volunteers.
- Assist all other staff with projects as required, willing to pitch in wherever needed.
