Saving for the Future

Teaching kids the value of money is an important part of making sure that they’re ready to go out into the world on their own. For younger kids, understanding that big purchases require saving up is one of the best lessons they can learn. An easy way to show them how saving works is to open a savings account for them.

On that note, Munson Elementary will be participating in a Geauga Credit Union program this year that allows any child to open a savings account that earns interest immediately and is free of service fees. An employee of Geauga Credit Union will come to Munson twice a month to collect deposits. The Credit Union will mail receipts to each student who made a deposit and include incentives, tips on saving or prizes.

At the end of the year, the school will provide certificates to all students who participated. Look for more information coming home with your student and if you have any questions please call the Geauga Credit Union at 440-834-4327.
