On Saturday, November 22, at the American Legion Hall in Burton you will have the opportunity to experience a mini world market of beautiful and unique handmade items. Products from Egypt, India, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Peru, Pakistan, and many more will be on display. Not only will you walk away with similar items that are shown in the slider below, but your purchase goes directly to the support of freeing at risk women and children in all of these countries – and in our own country.
One of the many organizations which will be represented on November 22 is WAR, Int’l.
Women At Risk, International (WAR, Int’l) is a Grand Rapids-based, nonprofit organization, established to create circles of protection around at-risk women and children. Through culturally sensitive, value-added intervention projects and partnerships, we provide safe places to heal from abuse, trafficking, exploitation, and more. Our passion is to empower survivors to live and work with dignity and hope.
WAR, Int’l not only creates safe places for women and children but also gives voice to their silenced cries. By educating communities about risk issues and providing individuals with practical ways to “do something,” we extend our reach through you.
In order to provide sustainable employment for the rescued and vulnerable women
in these programs, these organizations sell their hand-crafted items through Shop with a Purpose parties, online outlets, and other events.
