Sit. Look. Listen. Relax. at Geauga Park District

For those who aren’t familiar with the term, a “bird sit” is a program where Nature lovers sit in one spot and record all of the birds seen and heard for a period of time. Sound interesting? Good! Geauga Park District now has one on the calendar! Please drop in or out anytime during the following hours to sit a spell with a naturalist and help tally your spring bird life!

The Spring Bird Sit will be on Saturday, May 9 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at The West Woods, 9465 Kinsman Road (Route 87), Russell Twp. Sitters will want to dress for the weather and bring a chair and binoculars; signs will be posted en route to the assigned location.

The Silver Creek shrub-swamp floodplain provides great habitat for migratory spring birds, so that’s where we’ll be sitting. This area is also wheelchair/stroller accessible.

School-aged and up are most effective for counting. Registration is not required – just show up! We’ll only cancel in the event of stormy weather. Please call 440-286-9516 with questions.
