Gurney Elementary now has four standing desks in the second grade classroom of Ann Kehrier. “Since second graders are natural movers and some students just don’t ever sit in their chairs when working, these standing desks are ideal,” said Kehrier.
“Standing at, leaning on, and/or pushing the foot bar of a standing desk provides enough movement so that kids can stay focused on their work and aren’t distracted by their need to move. So far, we don’t have anyone assigned to the standing desks and students are able to make the choice to use one when they want.”
