Salmon is a delicious and extremely healthy food! Often called a super food, salmon boasts high concentrations of heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids, Vitamins B6 and B12, Selenium, and many other vital nutrients. Salmon is also high in protein and amino acids. Preparation can be very simple, and there are tons of delicious salmon recipes to try. Take a look at these recipes––number 1 is my personal favorite.
1. Pan-Seared Lemon Pepper Salmon

Recipe Courtesy of The Recipe Critic
Ingredients:
- 2 center cut salmon filets (6 ounces each)
- 1½ tablespoons olive oil
- 1½ tablespoons lemon juice
- Coarse pepper
- 2 lemons
Instructions
1. Place a medium-sized nonstick skillet over medium heat. While the pan is heating, whisk together olive oil and lemon juice in a bowl. Sprinkle your salmon fillets with pepper and coat each side in the olive oil and lemon juice mixture. Let the fillets rest in the bowl until the pan is preheated.
2. Place salmon fillets skin-side-down in the pan. Cover the top and leave for 4-5 minutes until cooked throughout. I like a pan-seared crust on both sides of my fillets, so once they are thoroughly cooked, I flip them over for a few seconds to brown the top.
3. Sprinkle with fresh lemon and serve with your choice of side; lemon pepper salmon pairs well with salad, rice, or fresh vegetables.
- ¼ cup sesame oil
- ¼ cup lemon juice
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
- 1 teaspoon ground mustard
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- 6 ounces of salmon steaks
Instructions:
1. Mix sesame oil, lemon juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame seeds, ground mustard, ginger, and garlic powder in a small saucepan over low heat. Bring to a simmer, stirring until sugar has dissolved. Set aside 1/2 cup of reserve marinade for basting later.
2. Pour remaining marinade into a resealable plastic bag and place salmon in the marinade. Squeeze any air out of the bag, seal it, and leave the salmon steaks to marinate for at least 1 hour (2 hours for stronger flavor). Remove the steaks from the bag and discard the used marinade.
3. Set oven rack about 4 inches from the heat source and preheat the oven’s broiler. Place salmon steaks into a broiler pan and broil for 5 minutes. Next, brush the steaks with reserve marinade, turn, and resume broiling until fish is opaque and flakes easily when tested with a fork; this should take about 5 more minutes. After removing steaks from the oven, brush again with marinade and serve.
