“Mowgli! Mowgli!” Those sounds can be heard coming from the Geauga Lyric Theater Guild (GLTG) in Chardon… not the jungle. Beginning July 31, a group of talented elementary aged kids will be performing Jungle Book. Directed by Michelle Kuch and assisted by Serena Tamburrino, Jungle Book will take you on the adventures of Mowgli and all his jungle animal friends.
The cast consists of children ages 6-12 from the surrounding area. Austin Writright, who portrays Father Wolf, explains what he loves the most about the GLTG workshop. “I like meeting all the new people. It is great to have new friends.“ Audrey Adamic who portrays the storyteller Nyra also agrees. “I like getting to make new friends.” The workshop ran six weeks and now concludes with three performances for the public.
As for the show itself, Daryann Medvec, who portrays Bagheera, says, “My favorite part is the monkey scene. They are just so funny!”
Thinking back over the past month, Michelle Kuch reflects on her experience. “The children have worked so hard. They’ve grown so much as performers and individuals that it is truly amazing. Seeing them on stage, becoming the animals, and interacting with their new family is what being a part of the theater community is all about. Being able to help them grow not only as performers, but as people, makes this experience the most awarding.”
These young performers will stage their show July 31 and August 1 at 7:00 and August 2 at 2:00. Take a tour of the jungle, walk a mile on wolf paws, and join the cast as they celebrate Mowgli’s life in Jungle Book.
Tickets or season passes can be purchased through the website or by calling the box office at (440) 286-2255. The historic Geauga Theater is located on beautiful Chardon Square at 101 Water Street, Chardon, Ohio.
