The GANG Welcomes Waterloo 7 Sculptor Jerry Schmidt

Jerry Schmidt in postJerry Schmidt, whose work can be seen in exhibitions, galleries, and public spaces across Northeast Ohio, will be the guest artist at February’s Geauga Arts Network Group (GANG) program, which will be held on Tuesday February 16 from 6:30 to 8:15 p.m. at Heinen’s Cafe, 402 Center Street in Chardon.

Host for the evening’s program will be Lake County-based creative director Dave Hlebcar. The program is free and open to the general public. No reservations are necessary.

Schmidt is the son of popular Cleveland sculptor, the late Fred Schmidt, and the father of Tyler Schmidt, who works with Jerry at their Waterloo 7 Studio/Gallery in Collinwood, Ohio. The father/son team create indoor and outdoor art pieces in steel, stainless steel, aluminum and copper for public spaces and private collections.

Jerry Schmidt describes his work as transforming “….the materials that shaped the industrial Midwest into elegant and refined works using sweeping forms and geometric shapes that defy gravity.”

His pieces can be seen in the permanent collections of University Hospital, the Cleveland Clinic, the Peter B. Lewis Building on the campus of Case Western Reserve University, at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, and at Cleveland’s Veterans Administration Medical Center. The Geauga Arts Network Group is an ad hoc group whose mission is to promote communication, collaboration, and cooperation across artistic disciplines for artists living and/or working in Geauga County.
