The Geauga Lyric Theater Guild (GLTG) is offering many art activities for children and adults this summer. The very popular summer performing arts workshops have a few spaces remaining. Both junior workshops for ages four to seven are available as well as the elementary drama workshop for ages seven to twelve.
The junior workshops offer the chance to explore the stage in a relaxed manner with the classic tales of The Shoemaker and the Elves and Thumbelina. The elementary workshop, Jungle Book (adapted from the “Mowgli” Stories by Rudyard Kipling, written by Vera Morris and produced by special arrangement with Pioneer Drama, Inc., Englewood, CO), will immerse kids in the magic of theater.
New this year, is a change from a teen workshop to an auditioned teen production. It’ll be 1959 in Chardon as the teens, ages thirteen to eighteen, perform Grease: School Version presented by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc. This fabulous musical tells the classic story of love and friendship with the help of the Pink Ladies and the Burger Palace Boys.
In addition, the GLTG has announced the summer classes. The Geauga Gems Show Choir will continue its successful year with two options – one for ages thirteen and over and the Junior Gems for ages seven to twelve instructed by Karen O’Baker Porter.
If visual arts are your “thing”, check out the colored pencil class or the crafty “Fairy Gardening.”
For performing artists, the GLTG will offer an auditioning workshop and Shakespeare in the Park instructed by Angela Miloro-Hansen. New instructor Hilary Rheinheimer will teach the class, Real Acting – Real Reacting.
There’s something for everyone this summer at the GLTG! Full details are available online.
