University Hospitals Hospice Seeking Compassionate Volunteers

University Hospitals Hospice is seeking compassionate men and women to help us enhance care and quality of life during life’s final stage. As a hospice volunteer, you can visit hospice patients in nursing homes, UH Hospitals or patients’ homes near your community, providing companionship and a listening ear to patients and their loved ones. No medical background is required, just a desire to help others.

Behind the scenes opportunities are also available. Greatest needs include: sewers and knitters, military veterans, active or reserve to assist us in honoring patients who are veterans, and volunteers to visit patients for companionship and simple presence at the bedside

Free training will be offered in Spring 2015, starting April 27, at UH Geauga Medical Center. To inquire, contact Patsy Brodie at 216-765-2737 or email Patricia.Brodie@UHHospitals.org.

Just a few hours of time each month can make a profound difference. One volunteer recently offered this thought, “My experience with my patient is a memory I will cherish and reflect on for the rest of my life and it is an experience I would wish to bring to as many as possible.”
