Upates from Foundation for Geauga Parks

Message from the Director

You’ve heard this: “life is what happens while you’re making other plans.” So I had planned to retire until I heard that the Foundation for Geauga Parks (FGP) was looking to hire its first executive director. Worth looking into, right? After all, I grew up in Geauga County, spending my free time outdoors in woods and fields that are now beautiful parks. After my long career in the nonprofit sector, I knew I could help place the Foundation on a strong footing right from the start. I also knew that I would not be the “forever” executive director – I thought a year or so would be just right for me and for FGP. And so it has been.

The Board of Trustees is pleased to announce a search for their next executive director “to lead this organization into the next phase of growth.” You may learn the details of the posting at this link.

It has been my great pleasure to help the FGP establish the systems, policies, and procedures that will ensure accountability and transparency with donors, volunteers, and the county and township parks. But rest assured, I am not going anywhere very soon. Now I will help oversee the leadership transition, knowing the the next director will be able to focus on the “fun” in fundraising.

Meanwhile, I hope to see you in one of the many great parks in Geauga County.
