What to Do? Snowshoe!

So you’d like to try snowshoeing but aren’t quite ready to buy a pair yet. What to do?

snowshoeing

We have a great opportunity for you: snowshoes available to borrow at The West Woods Nature Center free of charge!

Registration is preferred at 440-286-9516. Any snowshoes not reserved are available on first-come, first-served basis. Borrowers must be 18+ to check out a pair; anyone younger must be accompanied by an adult, and no one under 10 may use the snowshoes due to their weight.

Snowshoes may not leave The West Woods except for registered programs.

Registrants must sign a waiver form and leave a driver’s license as a security deposit. Borrowing can take place any time 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and last up to two hours.

At least a few inches of snow on the ground is needed, and the deeper the snow, the better.

Want a little extra guidance?

Register at 440-286-9516 or on the Geauga Park District website to attend the Learn to Snowshoe program on Saturday, January 10, either 10 a.m. to noon at Big Creek Park or 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Orchard Hills Park.

An instructor will teach the basics of snowshoeing: clothing, equipment and technique. An indoor presentation will be followed by outdoor instruction and a snowshoe hike. Borrow a pair or bring a pair of your own!
