Home Activities
- If you would rather stay at home, there are a plethora of activities you can indulge in. Teach your kids how to cook with you in the kitchen. Check out 21 Ways to Make Cooking with Kids More Fun for plenty of tips to make your experience more enjoyable.
- Another fun activity is making a terrarium. Using two liter bottles, some potting soil, and other materials, your family can learn about the water cycle, without even knowing they are learning!
- We love board games. Clue, Yahtzee, Life, Pit, Phase Ten, Chutes and Ladders, and even the dreaded Monopoly are just some board games we enjoy playing. Whatever game you choose, all that matters is you have fun.
- If board games aren’t your thing, exercise your imagination and play pretend with your children. Try dressing up and playing as pirates! Wrap small things in aluminum foil and hide them around the house. Encourage your kids dress up and talk like pirates as they look for the “buried treasure.”
- When it’s lunchtime, make a picnic lunch and have an indoor picnic. Lay a blanket on the floor, unwrap your picnic basket and enjoy.
- Create an indoor bowling lane by setting up empty bottles. Use a rubber ball as a bowling ball and have safe fun as you work on your bowling skills.
- An indoor scavenger hunt is always fun. Create a list of clues and have your children look for different things in the house. To make it more challenging, write the clues as fun riddles or rhymes.
- Create a personalized recipe book with your family using the following items:
- Unlined journal
- Index cards
- Photos from family meals
- Adhesive
- Photo corners
- Ruler
- Shimmery alphabet stickers
Write the recipes on the index cards. Using photo corners and adhesive, place the index cards and photos in the unlined journal. Create a title using the alphabet stickers.
- Create a fort in the living room using blankets and pillows. Camp out when you’re done.
- Have a tea-party. You get the tea, they get cocoa or juice. Have them invite their favorite cuddly things and play together.
