It’s a brand new year. 2015 is HERE!
Throughout time people have used the beginning of a new calendar year for making resolutions in an effort to make the coming yea the best one ever.
People have also used this time to offer sage words of advice, kindness and warning for others to heed as they drive forward into the unknown adventures that lie ahead.
Here are some of the best quotes for this time of year from some historic figures as we press on into 2015.
1. “Tomorrow is the first blank page of a 365 page book” – Brad Paisley
What a great sentiment from one of today’s most popular country singers. It’s a great reminder on New Year’s Eve that the next year provides us with 365 opportunities to start something wonderful.
2. “Hope. Smiles from the threshold of the year to come, Whispering ‘it will be happier’…” Alfred Lord Tennyson
Leave it to one of literatures great poets to remind us that even if the past year has been filled with sorrow, there is hope ahead.

4. “Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.” – T.S. Eliot
Another great literary figure reminds us, as the new year comes, that stretching ourselves even farther than we think we can go is the only way to see how capable we truly are.
5. “Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” – Steve Jobs
Steve Jobs made this statement near the end of his life, which makes it that much more poignant. It’s a reminder that we need to live our lives for ourselves and not be bound by other people’s expectations.
6. “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” – Eleanor Roosevelt
Mrs. Roosevelt remains one of the preeminent female figures in American history largely because of her inspirational mindset exemplified by this quote, which reminds us that believing in our dreams and ourselves will always reduce positive results.
7. “Be at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let every new year find you a better man.” – Benjamin Franklin
Historical figures are often well remembered because of their inspirational phrases. This one from Ben Franklin exemplifies the reasons for New Year’s resolutions.
8. “May all your troubles last as long as your New Year’s resolutions.” – Joey Adams

This ancient quote reminds us that we can’t control what is past so we should just look forward to tomorrow.
10. “Drop the last year into the silent limbo of the past. Let it go, for it was imperfect, and thank God that it can go.” – Brooks Atkinson
One more quote to remind us to look forward to the future rather than dwell in the past.
