Summer is still here and there are plenty of exciting things to do in Geauga County.
1. Family Camping and Special Events at Heritage Hills
For those that love camping, you should check out the RV Park in Thompson Ohio. Campers love being able to go fishing, swimming, play baseball and Frisbee. Campers can also enjoy music and a hayride. Upcoming special events include:
Wine Cork Trivet Craft (Adult Craft) to be held on August 23 (Sign up deadline of 8/17)
Sandusky Speedway Driving Experience to be held on September 13 (Sign up deadline of 8/30 and must have 50 participants so tell friends and family)
2. Chesterfest 4th Annual Community Picnic
August 23, 2014, 12pm – 5pm located on Parkside Park (corner of Rt.306 and Mayfield Road)
Presented by Chesterland Chamber of Commerce
New activities this year at Chesterfest include a mechanical surfboard, Euro-bungee, and pony rides! Top Dog will be performing along with other great musicians. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy an afternoon of fun and entertainment. Food provided by your local favorites for just a buck!
3. Emerald Rose presents the 2014, 3rd Annual Zucchini Festival
This two day event is August 16, 10 a.m.- 8 p.m. and August 17, 10 a.m.- 6 p.m.
The event will be located in Chardon Square and is free and open to the public.
This family friendly event features: rides, games food vendors and more.
There will be the 1st ever 1st Annual Zucchini Idol Talent contest Saturday afternoon. Auditions for the Zucchini Idol contest will be held Saturday, August 9, in the Chardon Library from noon to 4:30 p.m. There is a $10 entry fee.
Proceeds from the event benefit Emerald Fields of Troy. This organization is building a million dollar facility to help serve people that are impaired with mental disorders.
4. Chardon Third Annual Brew Fest & 5K Run
Beer fans will be able to sample some amazing brews for Ohio’s finest local breweries as well as top out of state breweries on September 13, 2014 during the 3rd annual Chardon Brew Fest.
The events takes place noon-5 p.m. and is sponsored by Lake Health.
Cost of admission to the event is: Advance admission – $25 and includes 15 tastings and a mug. Price is $35 day of the event. Designated drivers are $5 and receive a mug and unlimited soft drinks.
There will also be a 5K Run as well on that day. The race starts at 10:30 a.m. Registration runs 8-10 a.m. at Chips Clubhouse located at 214 Fifth Avenue. Cost for the race is $15 in advance and $20 on race day. A combined run and BrewFest ticket is $25 in advance and $30 on race day.
5. The Great Geauga County Fair
This timeless tradition is scheduled to run August 28 -September 1 on the fairgrounds located on 14373 N Cheshire Street.
Event hours are as follows: Fairgrounds open 9:00 a.m. – midnight, Exhibit Halls open 10:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.
