NDES First Grade Students Enhance their Reading Strategies

NDES first grade students enhance their reading strategies and fluency with the Cloze method, just one of the methods used at NDES. With this method, students are given a sentence with blanks, and then they have to fill in the blanks in the passage with the correct words from the word bank. Lessons using the Cloze procedure can also expand student’s use of language structure cues, meaning cues, and background knowledge to predict unknown words.
