Over 15 people recently gathered for a spouses meeting of the Chardon Kiwanis Club, which was held at the Deepwoods Pavilion at Big Creek Park. The meeting was an educational evening with friends and a presentation by Janice Chesnes, Community Connections Coordinator.
The presentation included a compressive discussion of a new program called Community Connections. The mission of GCBDD is to help those with disabilities live, learn, and earn in our community. This is accomplished by integrating people with disabilities into their community on a social basis thereby allowing them to live fully in their communities. The program hinges on the assigning of mentors to those with disabilities, who expose them to social opportunities.
“It is a great thing that programs like Community Connections can be offered in Geauga County,” said President of the Kiwanis Club of Chardon, Mary Bramstedt. “With wonderful programs such as this, individuals with disabilities can live more full lives.”
