The Geauga County Historical Society is seeking old boards from local sugarhouses and barns for “repurposing” as the interior walls of the Geauga County Maple Museum, now under construction. It is the hope and intent of the Society to use the aged siding from local structures to recreate a room with the appearance of an old sugarhouse. Planking from a number of such buildings has already been obtained. The Society is looking to increase the number of Geauga County families participating in this project by including pieces of their sugaring and farming histories in this building. Specifically, boards nine feet and longer with widths of six inches or more are being sought. Please consider helping the Society to complete this phase of the project.
By contributing boards, you may benefit as follows:
1. Assisting the Society in creating new and exciting exhibit space at Century Village Museum.
2. Obtaining recognition for your family with respect to this project.
3. Perhaps obtaining a tax benefit for the value of your in-kind contribution of the boards. Check with your tax accountant.
For more information, call Century Village Museum at 440-834-1492 during business hours on Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. or visit our website, www.centuryvillagemuseum.org.
