Perhaps you’ve heard about Geauga Park District’s free kayak borrowing for self-guided exploration of Headwaters Park this summer Wednesdays through Sundays. If not, visit for details.
Now, summertime opportunities have also been announced to explore other waters by canoe or kayak, and three are coming up in July on the incredible Lake Kelso at Burton Wetlands Nature Preserve.
- Kelso Full Moon Kayak – Sunday, July 9th, 8:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
- Lake Kelso Kayak – Saturday, July 15th, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
- Flying Jewels Dragonfly Kayak – Sunday, July 23rd, 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Naturalist-led floats are also scheduled at Headwaters Park on July 19th (Senior Day: Kayaking); at Eldon Russell Park on August 12th (Sunrise Kayak: In Search of Otters) and August 27th (Polliwog Paddle Family Canoe); at LaDue Reservoir on August 27th (Don’t Tern Over for a Plover: Canoe Float); and at Bass Lake Preserve on September 16th (Swallow Sunset Canoe).
Registration is required for all scheduled floats at Geauga Park District, where age restrictions are listed by program, or 440-286-9516. Provided life vests must be worn at all times.
