The Chardon Area Chamber of Commerce has hired Chardon resident Melissa Ricco as its Executive Director effective April 19, 2021.
She replaces Stacia Clawson who has served in the position since 2015. Ms. Clawson is retiring April 30 and relocating to Florida.
“While we will miss Stacia and all her contributions to the Chamber we are pleased to Have Melissa taking over the role.” said Board President Cathy Peters. “The search committee was very impressed with her experience with Chardon Tomorrow and the Square Association – she truly has Chardon at heart.”
Ms. Ricco said she was interested in working for the Chamber because of her interest in helping local businesses succeed and becoming even more involved in the community.
“I have two close cousins who are entrepreneurs and I value the efforts they have put into growing their businesses and brands,” she said. “I want to see the same kind of recognition and success for Chardon’s economic growth and sustainability and feel confident that this can be achieved with all the Chamber has to offer.”
A board member of Chardon Tomorrow, Ms. Ricco served as secretary of the Chardon Square Association volunteer organization for four years. She formally worked at Case Western Reserve University as an event coordinator and department assistant.
She is currently completing an associate degree in business management at Eastern Gateway Community College. Her plans are to earn a bachelor’s degree at Kent State Geauga with a focus on non-profit studies.
