Geauga County communities receive grant funds for localized scrap tire collections

Warrenthe Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste Management District has awarded $33,208 to nineteen (20) political subdivisions in Geauga County to implement localized scrap tire collection programs. The purpose of the scrap tire grant program is to financially assist all the political subdivisions within the District so that they can implement scrap tire collection programs within their community such as one-day collection programs, curbside collections, or illegally dumped roadside cleanups. “Finding ways to improve and make the process easier for residents to properly dispose of scrap tires in a more convenient manner is the goal of the District,” said Lisa Smith, District Administrator, “this eliminates travel to a centralized location point. Now residents do not have to drive outside of the specific community they live in to properly dispose of scrap tires.”

Funds are available to all communities in Geauga County.
