Geauga Growth Partnership Announces Summer Internship Awards

The Geauga Growth Partnership announces that 20 Geauga County high school students will hold paid internships with 19 County employers during the summer of 2013. This is the second year for the GGP Internship Program, which started in the summer of 2012 with 9 students and employers. More GGP internships are expected as additional employers and students complete final arrangements.

“We are delighted that our program almost doubled this year,” said Lee Imhof, chair of the GGP’s Internship Task Force. “We are especially pleased that a larger number of employers agreed to participate in the program,” he said.

Imhof also noted that the caliber of the applying students remained high: “An impressive group of applicants,” he said.

13 juniors and 16 seniors from six Geauga high schools applied for 2013. The totals by school were: Chardon, 11; West Geauga, 8; Notre Dame Cathedral Latin, 3; Newbury, 2; Kenston, 2; Berkshire, 2; Middlefield, 1.

The GGP Board of Directors continues to be enthusiastic about our Internship Program,” said GGP Chairman John Epprecht. “We are impressed by the support shown by the Geauga County business community and by growing student interest. We look forward to expanding the program in future years so that more students have real working experience and learn more about Geauga employment opportunities.”
