From Middlefield, Ohio
to Nashville, Tennessee
to Extreme Weight Loss
Jayce Hein is now coming to the Iron Horse in Burton!

Get ready fans! Geauga County’s own homegrown country boy turned country singer/songwriter is about to celebrate his first album release at the Iron Horse Saloon in Burton on October 17!
Jayce Hein has written many songs for other artists while in Nashville since 2007, artists you know – Jason Aldean, Casey James, Gretchen Wilson, Nine Days, and many more – but this is his first album, complete with 10 of his own songs with some help from a few artist friends.
“I thought it would be appropriate to have a release party in my home town for this first album,” says Jayce who will of course have CDs available for purchase.
He will not be alone either! His buddy Brian Desveaux from the band Nine Days will be there as well. You’ll know him from his #1 Billboard hit Absolutely (Story of a Girl): “This is the story of a girl/ Who cried a river and drown the whole world…”
No doubt it will be an amazing show you won’t want to miss!
Jayce has undergone an incredible life changing transformation after going on a year long journey with the trainers at Extreme Weight Loss, dropping 188 pounds. Not only is he experiencing the joys of a healthy and fit life, but he’s also enjoying quite a career boost.
We at Geauga News are excited to be able to present to you a series of articles, each one focusing on one of the songs which will be on the new album – the first of which was released in June as a single.
Small Town Summertime
“This is a story about coming from a small town; the hangout places, the rural life, and what made it fun in our younger days,” explains Jayce. “Erik [Dylan] started playing around with some phrases and came up with ‘take a little swig of this small town summertime’ and that kicked it off.”
In about three hours, the song was ready to go. Jayce notes the mention of Curtis Loew in the chorus. “Everyone wants to reference the big time country singers like Johnny Cash, so I thought it was cool that Jordan [Rager] brought up Curtis Loew.” Curtis Loew is a song about a young country boy written by Allen Collins and Ronnie Van Zant and recorded by Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1974. The boy wakes up with rooster everyday and visits an old man, a societal outcast, who plays his Dobro, in spite of his mom’s disapproval. The perfect complement to Small Town Summertime.
This is definitely a catchy tune that will quickly become one of those “stuck in your head” songs you’ll find yourself singing even in your dreams…at least that has been my experience!
You can download this fun first release at itunes or Amazon and start your own sing-a-long as you wait for the next article in this series!
Small Town Summertime
Written by Jayce Hein, Jordan Rager, and Erik Dylan
I’m gonna find a little shade, put the turtle on the truck
Rub it in, aw man, she’s lookin’ like a million bucks
I’ll be riding Mickey T’s, flying high on 33’s
Fill ‘er up, see what’s poppin’ at the Dairy Queen
CHORUS
Whoa, yeah we’re rollin down Main Street
Whoa, Curtis Loew is on repeat
Bye bye, oh my my
There ain’t nothin’ better man, I ain’t gonna lie
Singin’ whoa, life is good
Whoa, in our neck of the woods
Sunshine, hangin’ in the sky
Take a little swig of that small town summertime
#
I got my buddies in the back
Shorty ridin’ shotgun
Banging on the dash
Keepin’ beat with the bass drum
(thump thump)
CHORUS
Whoa, yeah we’re rollin down Main Street
Whoa, Curtis Loew is on repeat
Bye bye, oh my my
There ain’t nothin’ better man, I ain’t gonna lie
Singin’ whoa, life is good
Whoa, in our neck of the woods
Sunshine, hangin’ in the sky
Take a little swig of that small town summertime
