17 Easy Fundraiser Ideas (Part One)

Are you looking for fundraising ideas? It’s always a good idea to raise money for your school, church, workplace or any other group or cause. No matter what you want to raise money for, here are 17 easy ideas for your next fundraiser.

School Fundraisers

Schools are always in need of extra financial support. You can help fund anything from your child’s art classes to field trips with these ideas:

  1. Bake Sale. Who doesn’t love baked gods? If you have a little time and some ingredients, you can make some treats for your children to sell at a school bake sale. Bond with your children while teaching them how to make and sell their favorite treats!
  2. Car Wash. Car washes are a fun way for kids and teens to participate in their school fundraiser. They can spend time with friends, play their favorite music and enjoy the sunlight. Besides, they’re also working and raising the money for themselves!
  3. Charity Sport Game. This is a popular way to raise lots of money with just a little effort. Plan a school game like football, volleyball or basketball. Make it a special match-up — like teachers versus students. Use the admissions fees as donations to charity. You can combine this idea with a bake sale fundraiser by selling treats during half time!

Fundraising Ideas for Kids

These next ideas can also double as ways to keep your younger ones busy. Kids are often the most eager ones to join in on a fundraising event, so put them to work with these fundraising ideas for kids:

  1. Arts & Crafts Sale. Kids love to make crafts and pieces of art! Their creations can be put to a good cause by raising charity money. Need craft ideas? Here are our favorite homemade ideas for fundraisers.
  2. Lemonade Stand. Making and selling lemonade is definitely a favorite childhood activity. Why not use the profits for charity? Pick a popular street in your neighborhood or set up in a shared community area.

College Fundraisers

College campuses present great opportunities to raise money for a good cause. Here’s a few ways you can raise funds without spending a lot of money:

  1. Barbecue. Popular among hungry college students, barbecues can raise a lot of money while also providing a fun atmosphere. Just charge attendees an admission and watch your funds grow!
  2. College Dance. Did you miss your high school prom? No worries. Host a college dance, and raise charity money with the ticket sales. It will be a fun night for college students while benefiting an organization in need of money.
  3. Fraternity Competition. Crowds will be drawn to any type of competition involving college students. Organize table game tournaments, like pool or air hockey, or outdoor sports games, like baseball or kickball. Invite different fraternities or college groups to compete against each other. Collect donations and/or charge admission for this fundraiser.
  4. Contests. Find out who can down the most hot dogs or pies with an eating competition! If you’d rather be a part of a different outdoor activity, try organizing a water balloon fight. With just a few dollars to enter, you’ll raise lots of money in no time.
  5. Tutoring Services. What’s your best subject? Offer tutoring services for a small fee. You’ll  raise money while helping other students pass difficult tests.
  6. Used textbook sale. Textbooks are expensive! Make a pile of your old textbooks, ask your friends for theirs, and sell them for a cheap price. Other students will be grateful for the discount, and you’ll make a lot of sales for your fundraiser.

17 Easy Fundraiser Ideas (Part Two)

General Fundraisers

If you’re looking for fundraising ideas that get the job done without a lot of work or money, you’re at the right place. Here are some more ideas that work for any type of cheap and easy fundraiser:

  1. Donation Jars. This idea is extremely easy to execute and a great way to passively fundraise. Label a dozen jars with your charity and ask local businesses to put them next to the cash registers. Shoppers will stop to donate their change or a few dollars. Check up on your jars about once a week.
  2. Online Auction. This idea is free, and it doesn’t require an auctioneer. Create your own online auction and be sure to let people know how to find it. Try collecting unwanted items amongst your organization and using those for your auctions. You can also seek product donations from local businesses.
  3. Recycle. You can raise money and help the environment by collecting the huge amount of cans and plastic we use every day. Just drop them off at your nearest local recycling center for cash.
  4. Race. Organize a charity event like a 5k run or bicycle race. Collect money from the athletes who want to participate. These fundraising events promote healthy habits nd energize your community!
  5. Services. Offer your service — like cleaning or yard-working skills — to your neighbors, in exchange for a small fee. Community service goes a long way, and your work will be appreciated. Donate the money you raise to your cause of charity.
  6. Yard Sale. Simply collect old and unused objects from your house and sell them for small prices. Serve refreshments at your yard sale to make a couple of extra bucks!

The Most Important Part of Organizing a Fundraiser

Which of these 17 ideas will you use for your fundraiser? Whatever you choose, remember — advertising is key to your fundraiser’s success. People will only know about your fundraising event if you spread the word!
