Horse Ride Around the Reservoir

Oct 20, 2013 @ 10:00 am - 1:30 pm

Horseback Riding with Geauga Park DistrictBring your own horse for this naturalist-led leisurely 8 to 9 mile trail ride on both sides of the scenic East Branch Reservoir. Enjoy the fall color and migratory birds from a seat in the saddle, while traversing forest and field. Helmets encouraged. Bring lunch or a snack for a break mid-ride. Registration limited. Must trailer your own horse to the site. Bring a snack to eat on trail. Please bring a shovel to clean up after your horse in the parking lot. Please let us know if you intend to cancel in consideration for those on the waiting list. Participants must trailer their horses to Headwaters Park’s Rt. 608 entrance, where they will be met by a naturalist. This leisurely 8 to 9 mile ride around the scenic East Branch Reservoir provides the possibility of wildlife sightings including waterfowl, Bald Eagles and osprey with natural history lore so horse and rider may more fully enjoy their future rides through woodland and field. Hills, gravel and bridges should be anticipated on the trail.

Guided experiences are less common. But two leisurely, naturalist-led rides have been scheduled for Headwaters Park this October, and registration is now open online or 440-286-9516 to attend.
