Maple Max Announces Winner!

Magi Duncan spent a lot of time searching for Maple Max and finally got to meet the little fellow in person. As the winner of the “Count Maple Max” contest, Duncan found 11 photos of Maple Max throughout the 2013 Geauga County Visitor Guide and won the Geauga Prize Basket worth over $300.

“I’m glad the neighbors weren’t home,” said winner Magi Duncan. “I was so excited when I learned I won – I screamed.”

“I’m glad the neighbors weren’t home,” said winner Magi Duncan. “I was so excited when I learned I won – I screamed.” Duncan’s perseverance paid off, saying she has entered before and also sent guesses in for the monthly newsletter contest, but had never won. “I am so excited, especially about the Punderson package. My husband and I tried to plan a weekend there in December and it just didn’t work out, now we can go!” said Duncan. Having grown up in Geauga County, moved outside of the county for a while, and now back in Munson, Duncan is very happy to be back in her husband’s childhood home and regularly participates in all the wonderful events Geauga County has to offer.

Here’s what she won…

The prize basket contained a ‘Bed & Breakfast’ package to Punderson Manor Lodge, a gift certificate from Mary Yoder’s Amish Kitchen, Mullet’s Footwear & Country Cedar, theater tickets from Geauga Lyric Theater, Maple Syrup from Creekside Maple, Amish quilted mug mats, and other Geauga treasures. The value of the basket was over $300. Geauga County Tourism thanks everyone who donated!

“We had great participation for this contest, but really tricked a lot of people with one tiny picture of Max that many people missed,” said tourism director Lynda Nemeth. “We had entries from all over Ohio and even a couple from out of state. It’s a great way to get people to go through the guide, and hopefully spot many things they want to do for the summer travel season!”

The 2013 Geauga County Visitor Guides can be picked up at many area businesses or by requesting one from the tourism office at 440-632-1538 or visit our website. You may also sign up to receive a monthly newsletter or become a fan on Facebook to keep current on all the events in the county! The next chance to win great prizes will be Saturday May 11 for the Annual Spring Drive-it-Yourself Tour.
