Nights Out In The Parks

Still to come: 2 outdoor movie nights, 3 amphitheater shows & a workshop!

Who’s craving fresh air?

Bring a date or the family, a lawn chair or blanket, and take the night OUT!

Nights Out in the Parks continue to Geauga Park District on special Saturdays in July and August especially for enjoying the arts in Nature!

This year’s workshop offering, to create your own wind chime from objects including kilm-fired clay leaves, shells, wood, crystals and glass beads, will take place on Saturday, July 16, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at The West Woods’ newly renovated Affelder House. A fee of $24 covers all materials and instruction. Registration is required for “Listening to the Wind” Windchime Workshop at http://geaugaparkdistrict.org or 440-286-9516 – but the rest of the Nights Out are entirely registration and fee free!

A June showing of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial drew more than 300 people. Don’t miss out on this unique park fun! Next up is Field of Dreams on July 23 at Big Creek Park, with several fun pre-show activities planned. Then join us as we show episodes from the Ken Burns film The National Parks: America’s Best Idea on August 13 at Orchard Hills Park, featuring activities by the National Park and free ice cream from East Coast Original!

Movie-themed activities begin at 8:30 PM, including free popcorn and lemonade, and films begin at dark. Bring your own blankets and lawn chairs and make it a night (especially at Big Creek Park, where you can reserve your camping spot in advance).

Big Creek Park is also home to Nights Out outdoor amphitheater shows from 7 to 8:30 p.m., with refreshments served: The New Barleycorn (contemporary folk and traditional Celtic songs and music) on July 9; Cleveland Opera Theater on July 30; and Uzizi on August 27.

The West Woods’ Affelder House is at 15139 Chillicothe Road, down a long access drive, in Russell Township. Big Creek Park is at 9160 Robinson Road in Chardon Township. Orchard Hills Park is at 11340 Caves Road in Chester Township. Amphitheater shows will move indoors in case of inclement weather. Please call 440-286-9516 with additional questions.
