At Rescue Village, every animal deserves a second chance. Serving over 3,000 animals each year, this Northeast Ohio shelter is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming homeless, abused, and neglected animals. Beyond adoptions, Rescue Village provides veterinary care, humane education, and engaging programs for kids and families, creating a compassionate community for both animals and people.
Rescue Village at the KidShow – Fun & Learning for All!
Families visiting the Rescue Village booth at the KidShow can take part in hands-on activities, learn about volunteer opportunities, and even enter to win exciting prizes!
Raffle & Prizes – Enter for a chance to win a raffle basket or a Family Pass for six to Woofstock, Rescue Village’s award-winning dog festival on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at the Cleveland Metroparks Polo Field.
Make a Toy for a Shelter Animal – Kids can create a toy at the booth to provide enrichment for shelter animals.
Humane Education & Kids Programs – Learn about Kids Camp, the Reading Program, and school service projects that help children develop empathy, kindness, and compassion toward animals.
Kids Activity Books – While supplies last, families can pick up copies of the Rescue Village Kids Activity Book for fun, educational activities.
Rescue Village’s Commitment to Humane Education
Rescue Village is more than just an animal shelter—it is a hub for humane education, helping children understand responsible pet ownership and the importance of caring for homeless animals. Through programs like Kids Camp, school presentations, and reading programs, children have the chance to interact with animals in a meaningful way.
Reading Program – Young volunteers can read to animals, providing comfort and socialization while earning service hours for school.
Kids Camp & Service Projects – Through interactive learning experiences, children gain a deeper understanding of animal welfare while fostering compassion and responsibility.
School Visits & Tours – Rescue Village visits schools with Ambassador/Therapy Dogs and hosts student groups for facility tours and service projects (up to 20 participants per visit).
Woofstock: A Celebration for Animal Lovers
Rescue Village’s biggest annual fundraiser, Woofstock, is a can’t-miss event for pet lovers! Featuring live music, dog-friendly games and activities, lure courses, dock diving, and a kids’ activity tent, Woofstock brings together families and their furry friends for a day of fun and fundraising.

Rescue Village stands out as one of the only humane societies in Ohio that has a dedicated barn for homeless domesticated barn animals, including chickens, goats, pigs, cows, horses, and more. The shelter’s dedication to humane solutions for animals and their people extends beyond traditional pet adoptions, offering comprehensive care and community engagement programs.
