Solid Waste District Seeks Volunteers for Earth Day  Great American Litter Cleanup

The Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste Management District will kick off its litter cleanup campaign this month. The summer long program called the Great American Cleanup is part of a national campaign through Keep America Beautiful. Local volunteers receive trash bags, litter grabbers, safety vests, and gloves. All cleanup volunteers will receive Earth Day T-shirts (while supplies last) as a thank you gift. Service groups, neighborhood clubs, schools, scouts and communities seek out littered areas and then register their cleanup date to receive supplies. Registration forms are available by calling the Solid Waste District at 330-675-2673 or 1-800-707-2673. You can sign up to volunteer on line at

“While last year was the big “5-0”, the COVID-19 outbreak disrupted many of our programs to celebrate this golden anniversary”, said Jennifer Jones, Director for the District. “We hope to make up for it this year with lots of cleanups.” “Each year we look for increased participation and are happy to see such commitment to renew parks, clean shorelines, and remove litter from roadways and neighborhoods.” “The Great American Cleanup is a shining example of how lasting, positive change happens when people work together.”
