Thompson Library Station, a satellite of Geauga County Public Library (GCPL), is moving from its location just off the Thompson Square to Ledgemont School located at 16200 Burrows Road, Thompson, Ohio on Thursday, August 14, for normal business hours 3 – 8 p.m.
During the transition, the station will be closed Monday, August 11 – Wednesday, August 13. During its first few weeks at the new location, new furniture, signage and other enhancements will be added. Completion is expected by the end of September. The official open house is from 1 – 3 p.m., Sunday, October 5.
The expanded station houses a colorful children’s area, enhanced WiFi, an expanded collection and comfortable furniture.
“This is an exciting development in the long history of the Thompson Library Station,” says GCPL Director Deborah F. O’Connor. “Our beautiful new quarters will be a welcome addition to the Thompson area. Come on out and try it. You’ll like it!”
Thompson Library Station first opened in 1979 to serve the northeast corner of Geauga County and was well received at its onset 35 years ago. This move demonstrates GCPL’s commitment to the residents of Thompson and Montville. “We’re hoping that even more people will enjoy our services and collection at our new location,” O’Connor adds. “We have more space and a welcoming area for patrons to relax in comfy chairs and read books, newspapers and magazines.”
