The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is offering a chance to sign up for cost incentives through the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP). EQIP is a voluntary program that provides agricultural producers with financial resources and one-on-one help to plan and implement conservation improvements on their farms, fields, or forests. NRCS co-invests in these practices with the farmer to help conserve natural resources for the future while also improving agricultural operations.
Financial assistance is now available in a variety of agricultural categories such as cropland, organic, and pasture operations. Several special projects are also available which address water quality, forestry management, pollinator populations, wildlife habitat, pasture improvements, and more. Ohio’s deadline to submit EQIP applications is Friday, January 15, 2021. Applications signed and submitted to NRCS by the deadline will be evaluated for fiscal year 2021 funding.
Applicants should be farmers, or farm or forest landowners and meet eligibility criteria. For more information contact the USDA NRCS office in Orwell at 440-437-5888 or find your local Service Center at nrcs.usda.gov/wps/portal/nrcs/oh/contact/local/.
